Why do I pray all day, every day?
A Familiar Feeling of Emptiness
Have you ever felt like you were missing something in your life? Certainly, always. Isn’t that true?
Roots in a Christian Upbringing
I grew up in a Christian household, as you know. My mom attended church every Sunday and participated in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) during the week. Her Bible was a constant presence on the table, and my dad effortlessly quoted scriptures.
Approximately eighteen months into the establishment of Eclipse DOT, my wife and I engaged in a conversation during one of our frequent road trips. I expressed my frustration with the business not gaining the momentum I desired, and I struggled to discern the reasons or ways to accelerate its growth
She inquired whether I had sought guidance through prayer. To be completely transparent, the response was no! Why would I seek divine guidance for a business? After all, it revolves around financial gain, and the Bible does caution that “the love of money is the root of evil.”
At that very moment, we offered our prayers. It was a transformative moment for our business. I humbly stepped down from my position as CEO, and with gratitude, we entrusted God as the new CEO.
We made a heartfelt decision that, regardless of the company’s size, God will forever remain an integral and significant part of it.
At that juncture, I shifted my focus from concerns about the company’s growth to contemplating how we could contribute to a greater purpose with God at the center.
I embraced a deeper connection with prayer, seeking guidance in every decision and meeting. Before each meeting, I make it a point to offer a brief prayer, acknowledging that God is in control and has everything in hand. I earnestly request His guidance to ensure our words contribute to the best possible meeting, allowing His will to shine through in every situation.
Oh my goodness, the transformation that unfolded was truly remarkable and happened almost instantly! In July, we decided to change our CEO, and by September, we were encouraged to take a leap of faith, stepping out on our own and parting ways with my other employer.
We continue to uphold our faith within the company, anchoring it with strength. Before any events or significant meetings, we take a moment to offer heartfelt prayers, acknowledging the importance of seeking divine guidance.
We humbly request God’s ongoing guidance, fervently seeking His wisdom to reveal how we can contribute to the growth of this company under His divine plan.
We understand that, like any exceptional CEO, there are times when we present unconventional ideas, and God may gently guide us with a “no.” That’s perfectly fine; we embrace and appreciate His divine discernment.
In the initial year of embarking on our independent journey, our growth surpassed all expectations, reaching an incredible over 2000%.
I vividly recall the moment our accountant discussed the first year’s taxes with us. Despite her encouraging words, a subtle doubt lingered in her eyes as we delved into discussions about our goals for the upcoming year and the next five years.
In the past year, she reached out to me with a call, expressing amazement at how well we were doing. I shared my estimate of the impressive progress we had made.
As I shared the remarkable progress we made over the last year, she was genuinely awe-struck. She asked in amazement, “How did you know that?”
Surprising her, I responded, “I prayed and listened wholeheartedly, tuning into what God had to say about our earnings, and I placed my trust in Him. So, how close were we?”
Within a few thousand dollars,” she replied with a smile, affirming the incredible alignment between our prayers and the actual financial outcome.
Often, we find ourselves separating God from our business endeavors. Society has subtly ingrained the belief that God and business should exist in separate spheres, with God reserved solely for our personal lives. It’s time to challenge this notion and recognize the profound impact spirituality can have on our professional journeys.
To me, God is not just a part of my life; He is an essential presence that enhances every aspect of my journey.
This is why I engage in constant prayer.
Before each meeting, before I answer the phone, and before sending an email, I take a moment to pray. After I hang up, conclude a meeting, or dispatch an email, I continue to offer prayers, seeking guidance and blessings in every interaction.
God holds complete control over every facet of my life, from the joyous union with my beloved Jenna in marriage to the incredible blessings of my children. His guiding hand extends to my ventures, both in business (Eclipse DOT, Eclipse Training) and the noble pursuits of our non-profit (God First Life Next). His presence is felt in everything I do, shaping every endeavor with divine purpose.
Every facet of your life is a place where God belongs. His love surrounds you, and His desire is for your success and well-being. Embrace His presence in every aspect of your journey, and let His love guide you to prosperity.
Rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18
