BLESSINGS ARE ALL AROUND US
“And God can generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” (2 Corinthians 9:8)
Embracing the Gifts of Grace
As I pen these words, I am spellbound by the captivating sunset over the ocean in San Diego, CA. My heart overflows with gratitude as I recognize the extraordinary blessings that surround me. From the deck of the beach house I’ve rented, I am privileged to witness the rhythmic dance of waves crashing onto the shore and the breathtaking sunset, a magnificent display orchestrated by the hands of God.
Just a short while ago, we were exploring tide pools, and these amazing girls stumbled upon an octopus. Not only did they discover it, but they also shared their find with the kids, who, in turn, spent delightful moments interacting with it.
In moments like these, it becomes undeniably apparent how profoundly blessed we are!
Counting Blessings in All Seasons
Here’s the heart of the matter. I count my blessings, even during times when we’re not on the road or when things don’t unfold as envisioned. Being blessed and acknowledging those blessings is a mindset.
In the early days of my marriage to Jenna, when finances were tight (to put it mildly), I still recognized my blessings because God had graced me with an incredible life partner. Even in the midst of our disagreements, I cherish the fact that we navigate through arguments together.
Whether it’s the arrival of our kids or the simple joys of everyday life, each day spent together is truly a blessing. Our blessings aren’t measured by material possessions, and I’m convinced that with more than one child, not a single day has passed without their playful squabbles.
Our life continues to be abundantly filled with blessings.
Challenges as Hidden Blessings
In the face of the countless challenges our business confronts daily, instead of viewing them as curses due to things not being seamless, we recognize them as blessings. These challenges serve as opportunities for growth and resilience. It’s a powerful reminder that God doesn’t seek the already qualified; He qualifies those who are called!
Blessing is a Perspective
Returning to the core of the matter… Blessings are not a destination to reach or possessions to accumulate. Blessing is a perspective, a choice that lies within you—whether you decide to embrace the feeling of being blessed or not.
And guess what? The power to feel blessed lies solely within you, beyond anyone else’s control. It’s all in your hands, truly. Yes, you have the absolute power to decide whether you embrace a sense of being blessed.
For someone seeking a worry-free routine of heading to work in the morning and returning home at night, owning a business might seem like a curse. (Honestly, I might even entertain that thought from time to time, lol.)
But not for me! Creating the business we’ve built has been an absolute blessing for me!
Family Adventures and Lessons
Today, another remarkable lesson unfolded, courtesy of my incredible queen, Jenna. Our family outing for deep-sea fishing was a first for all of us, except her – she had experienced it as a child.
Approximately one hour into our adventure, Nathan decided to “chum” the water (well, he started throwing up over the edge of the boat). About 30 minutes later, Jenna decided to join in the “chumming” adventure. An hour and a half later, feeling curious about the commotion, I decided to partake in the chumming festivities.
Bless Jenna’s heart; she out-chummed all of us and remained in the best spirits (aside from Billy, who, having caught the most fish and avoided seasickness, was understandably elated, lol). After chumming, before we even disembarked, Jenna joyfully exclaimed, “That was so much fun! I’m so glad we went – what a blessing!”
Personally, I was still trying to settle my sea stomach, and she was too. However, her perspective of it all being a blessing was truly remarkable.
Take Action
It’s time to embark on the journey of action! The moment is ripe for taking meaningful steps!
Reflect on the countless times you’ve been blessed without even realizing it. Can you recall any? Personally, I’ve experienced it about 200,000 times, much like battling sea sickness earlier today! (Still feeling a bit like I’m bobbing on the water. LOL)
Now, I invite you to pause and express gratitude to God for the blessings hidden within those moments.
