Making Swift Decisions: A Blueprint for Action in 5 Seconds or Less

In our fast-paced world, it is crucial to make most decisions within 5 seconds or less.  When confronted with pivotal choices, I rely on the philosophy of one of my esteemed leaders, Ezra Lee, to guide me.

Ezra once revealed what propelled him to start and grow his business empire when I inquired about his journey. He responded with a powerful statement: “You know, there was a time in my life when I didn’t have the money to buy shoes. I’m not scared to go back to that time again if that’s where I’m supposed to be.”

Initially, this response left me perplexed, much like a dog hearing a high-pitched noise. But upon reflection, a profound realization dawned on me. Ezra’s message was clear—trust that everything is under control, and some aspects are beyond your influence. The key revelation is that you are never truly ready for the uncertainties that lie ahead. Once this awareness sets in, seemingly difficult decisions lose their daunting edge.

In life, we have the ability to rationalize our choices, be they good or bad. The core message here is not to stress over the minutiae. All decisions, when viewed against the backdrop of impermanence, become inherently small. Tattoos, which may appear permanent, can still be altered or enhanced. Consider this: if nothing is everlasting, what is preventing you from taking that courageous step?

Whether it’s asking someone out, pursuing an interview, applying for a job, returning to school, starting a family, launching a business, or simply savoring life, the realization that nothing is truly permanent should empower you to embrace opportunities with confidence and enthusiasm.
