FIND A WAY

When we decide to confront a challenge, we embark on a journey of discovery, unearthing solutions that may initially elude us. Let’s immerse ourselves in the narrative inspired by Luke 5:18–19:

“Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.”

Picture a group of individuals, about 6–10 in number, fervently carrying a paralyzed man on a mat with the ardent desire to present him before Jesus. Yet, their fervor encounters an unexpected impediment—the crowd. Undeterred by this obstacle, these determined individuals refuse to succumb to defeat. A spark of innovation ignites as one among them proposes, “Let’s take him up on the roof and lower him in!” Despite initial skepticism from others, only 4–5 of them maintain unwavering determination.

The rooftop becomes their canvas of possibilities. As one ascends to create an opening, the others collaborate on a plan to hoist the paralytic, while yet another group works on a system to safely lower him down. Imagine the scene: “Jim’s on the roof, uncovering the perfect spot. Ben and Mike fashion makeshift A-frames with long poles to lift you up. Here comes John with the rope.” The collective effort creates a palpable buzz of excitement, all for a common purpose.

An astute observation emerges—none of the resolute few accepts “no” as the final answer. When the initial plan is thwarted by the crowd, they pivot, seeking alternative paths. Even when those paths appear futile, they persist, their relentless pursuit revealing a viable solution. It’s a stark contrast to our human tendency to surrender in the face of adversity, uttering phrases like “I can’t do it” or “It’s impossible.”

Let me share a fundamental truth: it can be done! The realm of possibilities expands when one believes in the divine working through them. Today, our encouragement is a resounding call to stand firm amidst challenges. When the road ahead seems daunting, muster the strength within and unearth a way to make it happen.

The resolute plea continues in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we approach you with humility, seeking your divine strength. Grant us the fortitude to persevere when our plans falter and endow us with resilience in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Almighty God, we recognize your greatness, acknowledging that with you, all things are conceivable.

In navigating life’s challenges, we find solace in the understanding that you have entrusted us with a purpose integral to your divine mission. We express our gratitude for being chosen for this profound journey. May your constant presence reassure us, guiding our steps through the labyrinth of difficulties.

Reflecting on the parable of the stonecutter, we draw inspiration from the relentless effort that led to a breakthrough on the 102nd swing. Similarly, may we not lose sight of the proximity of our breakthroughs in moments of struggle. Grant us the strength to persist, even when the outcome appears elusive. Infuse us with the determination to press on, understanding that the breakthrough may be just beyond our current efforts.

In moments of doubt and weariness, instill within us the same unwavering determination that propelled the stonecutter until the breakthrough. Lord, we express our heartfelt gratitude for the manifold blessings you have bestowed upon us. Thank you for your unwavering presence and the myriad ways in which you work in our lives. Amen.

Amen.
